Don't know if any of you already knew this, or ever subscribed, but I caught this while cruising Epicurious.com and followed the link back to www.gourmet.com.

This is what they are posting about it, I guess it effects not just the magazine but also Bon Appetit magazine, a cell phone app, and the Epicurious website:

"Please be advised that Gourmet magazine will cease publication after the November issue.

Subscribers can look forward to receiving Bon Appetit magazine for the remainder of their subscription. The Gourmet.com website will remain available during a transitional period, and access to Gourmet recipes will also remain available via sister site Epicurious.com and the Epi iPhone application...."

The rest of the notice is at www.gourmet.com.

Kinda surprised me, this magazine has been around for a long long time.

People don't really need the magazine any longer. The cover is what captures the interest enough to purchase it, being able to have access to the recipes inside. Now, you can get all the recipes on line. In addition to the magazine's website, there are countless other recipe websites that people use for recipes now. Free.
It's clearly the end of an era. People don't get their information from paper any longer. I always liked getting the magazines in the mail. Sad, really.

I actually get both Gourmet and Bon Appetit though I got both subscriptions buying cookware. I've only glanced at them myself though my wife reads them. I was aware that Gourmet is ending with this issue and once my subscription ends Bon Appetit will also. I'm now getting spam mail daily trying to sell me other food related subscriptions.
