I had to take my dog to the vet today to be euthanased. It's a very sad time in our house. The boys were 1 & 3 when we got him, so haven't ever known anything different.
I don't think I have ever bawled like I did when I had to do this with my Roxy who I had from grade school through graduate school. (she looked a-lot like Flash too)
We get teary at our house if we even mention that that day wil come someday. I feel for you and the sense of loss that one con only understand if they have had a dog.
Oh gosh, Ray - I am so sorry for your loss. Flash looks like a faithful friend. He trusted you to take care of him, though, and you did the right thing. Your house will seem so empty for quite awhile. We lost our sweet dogs in December and it just now starting to get a little easier.
It's always a tough decision and never a easy one to make, but it's the right decision. Letting them go rather than keeping them with us and allowing them to suffer. It's our final "act of love" when it comes to our furry family members. Hold on to the memories. I am so sorry for your loss.
Miniman, my heart breaks for you. I know how hard that is to do. Please know that I am thinking about you and your family, and your friend. I'm soooo sorry MM.
Such a hard decision to do, I have had to do it twice in the last four years. I am glad you knew it was time and did what you had to do.
It is so hard to do this and deal with it. I still miss my two doggies, but we try and concentrate on all the good times and goofy things the dogs did.
It helps us some, that and knowing they are waiting to greet us again.
Sorry to hear that Flash. Our pets fill a special spot in our hearts. I know how it hurts when they are taken away. Best wishes to your whole household. I know it's not easy.
Awww, Ray, I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye to Flash. How are the kids doing? For them, it's almost like losing a sibling. I'm glad you are such a caring man and you can help them get through this while you get through it yourself.
I have been ready for it for a while as he has been detriating for sometime, but I needed the others to realise, as my vet put it, he needed to go while he still had some dignity. The boys are terribly upset but do understand. We raised the issue already so it did not come as a shock to them.
