Fast food is full of surprises! Here are some fun and unexpected facts that I learned and decided to share with you.
How many of these facts do you already know? Which of these surprised you the most?
- McDonald’s is the world’s biggest toy distributor. McDonald's gives away more toys than any actual toy store with its Happy Meal.
- Wendy’s was the first fast-food chain with a drive-thru! Back in 1970, Wendy’s introduced the “Pick-Up Window,” which was the first concept to grab a burger on the go.
- The Big Mac wasn’t even named by McDonald's - A 21-year-old secretary at the company came up with the name, and now it’s one of the most famous burgers ever.
- Taco Bell once sent a taco into space - Just because they could.
- Japan celebrates Christmas with KFC! It’s a full-blown tradition to order a bucket of KFC for Christmas dinner in Japan, thanks to a clever 1970s marketing campaign.
- Wendy’s Frosty recipe is still a secret. Very few people know the actual full recipe and it hasn't changed much since 1969.
- French fries weren’t actually French - They were first made in Belgium. but American soldiers in WW I called them “French Fries” because the Belgian soldiers spoke French.
- The first fast-food restaurant? White Castle! It opened in 1921, selling burgers for just 5 cents each.
