Fresh Picante Sauce

4 fresh tomatoes*
1/4 onion coarsely chopped
2 green onions coarsely chopped
1 large clove garlic, chopped
2 tablespoons tomato puree (optional)
3 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
2 serrano peppers, chopped
Juice from 1/2 lime
Pinch of sugar
Pinch of salt

*If you can't find any good tomatoes, substitute with 1- 14 oz can of tomatoes with juice.

Pulse all ingredients in a food processor to desired consistency.
Makes about 3 cups.

This is best when chilled a few hours and used the same day, but it will keep in the refrigerator about a week.
 
This sounds so good, Simplicity! And I just happen to have gotten some lovely tomatoes. I think I'll make this today.
