I recently bought a new cutting board from The Board Smith (more on that later) to replace my Totally Bamboo brand "Large Butcher Block" cutting board (see photo below -- that's the actual board I'm giving away).
My Totally Bamboo cutting board is FREE to anyone willing to pay the cost of shipping. I'm offering it to the members of Net Cooking Talk before anyone else.
The Totally Bamboo board is 11¾" wide x 19½" long x 2" thick. It's made entirely of end-grain bamboo. It's 2 or 3 years old but in great shape as it has been oiled frequently. It has only a few small, very shallow knife marks on the cutting surface. The only defect is a small crack in one of the bamboo feet, but that doesn't affect the board in any way.

The cheapest I've found it is at Epicurean Edge, a high-end knife dealer, which wants $76 for it, plus shipping: CLICK ME
Bamboo is very hard, about 16% harder than maple. Some people will tell you that it's too hard for a cutting board, but I've never noticed it dulling my knives. The Epicurean Edge says that the bamboo in this board "is hard enough not to mar easily, but soft enough so as not dull knives."
The only catch is it weighs about 13 pounds, so shipping by UPS Ground will cost about $15 to $22, depending on where it's going. The recipient will have to pay shipping in advance, either by cash, check, or preferably PayPal. I can figure the exact cost once I know where it's going. If you want to calculate the cost, it will be shipped from Hermosa Beach, California 90254.
I would prefer that the board go to someone who 1) will use it and 2) who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford a new one.
If interested, PM me or send me an e-mail.
