...for now anyway. Last week DH bought me a new wusthof bread knife and this week he bought me a new hollow ground carving knife and 8 hollow ground steak knives...and then he sharpened all of my other knives...I'm happy....I wonder what he wants....
Cool, Mama. Being a knife guy here's the lowdown so you can look like a knife techie to your friends. Your knife blades are actually called grantons, and the hollows themselves are kullens. The kullens are to break the suction between flat surfaces that are cut and the blade. How well they work is a matter of much debate and I have yet to have seen an actual study but there must be one or more out there somewhere. Congratulations on completing your set.
Ooh. Good thing I came back to your thread. I made the previous post on the run between scenes as DW & I are watching a movie. In my haste I misspelled: It's "kullens" and I edited my previous post to match. Don't wanna look like a dummy in front of the other knife freaks.....
