It's been awhile since I've been on a picnic, but the last one was very romantic with the man in my life at the time, and I have fond memories of it: cheeses, French bread, grapes and wine.

sounds romantic!

i have not gone to a picnic of that sort, (my own were non-romantic)where a lunch is packed, fer ages. those were w/ family & pals when we went to explore caves & climb rocks, or wade in creeks & rent pavillions.
we also refer to picnics here as bashes in a yard w/ a slew of ppl. last 1 i went to was a reception/pig roast. (ummmm!)

Ah yes, the old blanket on the ground picnic in the park trick :brows:, serious wooing

Difficult choice, luvs. I'd probably pack cold fried chicken and potato salad along with some other little nibbles.

We have Music in the Park every Wednesday night during the summer. We are close and it is easy to pack and take a picnic supper. Tonight's is Gazpacho made in my new Vitamix, Tuscan bean dip made in new Vitamix :) with Tortilla chips and fresh vegies. A good bottle of Pinot Noir and we buy dessert at the park. Happy summer!

glad yinz get to have that nearby.
presented a speech on gazpacho to my fellow classmates, once- we researched a food/region, etcetera. that is delicious~

luv vitamix! we used 'em @ school/work. they rock. on that subject of wine- my Mom luvs pinot noir. i drank a sip. well, kinda most of that bottle. was a holiday!~

WE called it a picanic / cookout or Weiner Roast in N.E.PA, and now since living in NJ, its a BBQ or a BBQ...LOL
I love a real weiner roast ....it would be a log fire in a pit, and cooking potatoes right inside and buried in the hot wood ashes. Hot dogs are roasted on a stick over the flames or hot coals.
Favorite is :
Hot Dogs Charred
Baked potatoes charred / and but soft inside. Black lip sstains and teeth trying to eat them.
Home Made Pizza with Lots of Black Pepper on top
Corn on the Cob w Butter and salt and Blk Pepper
Wimpies (sloppy Joes )
Gotta have marshmallows roasted over the fire pit on a stick
Beer...Lots of beer...
Chocolate Milk
Kool Aid... Cherry!! or Grape
Pop Corn... popped in a pot shaken over the fire. OOooooo!!!!

Yeah! Ooooo! Right!!... I remember the colored kearnals too.
There were blue red and green ones.
I love the sugar glazed red and white coated popcorn.

You are too young, but I remember the Jiffy Pop Popcorn. It was a tin pie plate, and crumpled tin foil on top. A wire handle, and on the stove top, shake shake shake and the dome top of foil would puff up whilst the popcorn popped.
They were 19 cents. LOL... Gas was 21 - 23 cents a gallon. 1952 - 1956

Haven't been on a picnic since the children were small but we usually took, fried chicken, macaroni salad, potato salad hot dogs, chips and soda pop.
