We were out riding this weekend and decided on steak for dinner. None were defrosted, so we went looking for a convenient food store.
A couple years ago a Pathmark Super Center went under right on Route 46 in Wayne. We heard that another store was there, but, had not visited. Since we were in the area we stopped in. Maureen wanted to wait in the truck and I went in just to get steak for us, the sign outside said Fairway - A market like no other. WELL!!!! As I entered and looked around, I found that I was in the produce section. It is bigger than most grocery stores and it goes on from there.
Now for the yellow light. I see a corner behind produce there all of the lights ate yellow. I read the overhead sign and it says that regular white light contains UV (I think) that can affect the taste of Olive oil. They have about 50 different olive oils out with bread for tasting so you can get just what you want. Maybe another 40 - 50 that are not available for tasting.
The deli counter is bigger than most meat cases and in addition to amy cold cut you can imagine features 70 homemade salad items.
On the the butcher. Five or six butchers on duty, all counter service. Want a steak, no problem, Pulls out the whole rib section and asks how thick do you want them? Pork, lame and more that I can name all the same, cut to order. They had a "hanger steak" that I had not heard of. It is evidently a muscle in the hind quarter that is not used and very tender. It is cut about like skirt steak.
The regular grocery aisles contain anything I could imagine and a boundless variety. There is a whole section just for cheeses, poultry and a full liquor (Package goods) section.
Maybe some of you have seen this before. It was all new and very cool for me.
Here is a link.

Edit to add - The size of this store rivals a wallchart .
