Exploding Pyrex

Over the years I've heard numerous horror stories about people being severely injured by exploding Pyrex bakeware. I haven't had any problems myself, but I do own several Pyrex casseroles, loaf pans, and pie plates, so I'm a little concerned, especially after reading a long article on ConsumerAffairs.com.

I have never only taken it from room temperature to oven temperature and have never had a problem. I don't freeze pies and then bake them. I prefer to make things fresh.

I wonder if some of these items are purchased at an outlet store. Some seconds might not be as strong as they should be.

The only thing that's ever exploded on me, not me, but in the oven and it made a very distinctive sound, so I knew what it was. It was a cast iron skillet mom sent to me one Christmas.
I was trying to speed up the seasoning process so I turned the oven up all the way. It cracked right in half!
I only have 3 pyrex baking dishes(well, one is actually anchor-hocking) for lasagna. I don't use metal for lasagna because of the acid in the tomatoes, so I use these.
I do, however have a ton of corningware, and have never had a problem with either.
But I would never put freezer to oven. That's just testing fate, and plain stupid.

The only Pyrex I've ever had explode was a measuring cup I put in the microwave with some water in it, 30 seconds later it exploded. My wife on the other hand melted a vision ware sauce pan on an electric stove making rice. She walked off and flat forgot about it. It was kind of funny since their old ad used to show them melting a regular pot in a vision ware pot.
