Eve’s Pudding


Ingredients


500g cooking apples
50g soft brown sugar
125g margarine
125g sugar
2 eggs
125g self raising flour
1 tbsp hot water

Equipment
2 pint oven proof dish


Method

1. Set the oven to 180°C / 350 °F Gas mark 4.
2. Put the apples into a saucepan, with a very little water, and cook for a few minutes until tender. Stir, and ensure it does not burn.
3. Put the apples into the ovenproof dish, and sprinkle with the brown sugar.
4. Cream the margarine with the sugar, until light and fluffy.
5. Beat the eggs in a bowl. Add to the cake mixture, a little at a time.
6. Fold in the flour, and then the hot water.
7. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown

Yes, it does! And sounds easy, too.

But I'd need conversions to make it!

Here's How:

Using a dry measure, measure the desired amount of flour into a separate container.
For each cup of all-purpose flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
Mix to combine.
Tips:

You can use self-rising flour in yeast bread recipes, but you'll need to omit the salt.
If you use self-rising flour as a substitute for all-purpose flour in a quick bread, omit salt and baking powder.
