El Gaucho’s Tacoma

Last night we went to El Gaucho’s with Ann and Andy. Nancy and I got there early thinking we’d get a cocktail before they arrived. The bar was full and took awhile to get a seat. We weren’t disappointed. I had a vodka martini made from Buffalo Trace Vodka, shaken, and it was very smooth. Nancy had a smoked Manhattan with Buffalo Trace bourbon, Franjelico, bitters, simple syrup, absinthe wash, orange, then smoked with hickory chips.

For dinner I had the bone in ribeye with a side of asparagus. My steak was blue rare. Ann and Andy got a table side Caesar salad and there was enough for me to have a plate. The pictures are a little dark as my flash didn’t always go off. The atmosphere of the restaurant is low light.

WOW! Those photos are fantastic, John! I had a smoked Old Fashioned at a great barbecue restaurant near me. I loved it! Did Nancy like hers? Was your Vesper good?

I didn’t have the Vesper, just straight vodka. The Buffalo Trace Vodka is excellent. Nancy loved her drink and she complains when my grilled meat is to smoky.

Travis was our bartender. There were three bartenders and they were hopping. It was packed for a Wednesday night.
