'lil Chef
my oops. i meant friday. the day changed as i pushed 'submit' your dinner tonite shall be~

mods, could 1of yinz change the titleleeze, thanx!

As of now I have no really plan. YIKES

Maybe bacon, eggs, fried potatoes with onions and mushrooms and biscuits.

Big mess in the yard from the passing storms so, if the weather cooperates, I'll be doing a lot of cleanup so it will be leftovers for dinner.

Dinner will be either sandwiches or a quick stop and a McBurger type place while driving tonight. Hopefully traffic will cooperate and we'll be able to classify it as "Fast Food" and not "OMG, we've been stuck in traffic in this exact spot for 30 minutes" food.

Picked up some bone-on chicken breasts for $.99/lb (last day to sell), so I'll debone them and pan grill some to put on top of the fresh fettuccine noodles and Alfredo sauce that I'm making, along with steamed broccoli as a side. Also making Jello with pineapple chunks for dessert.

OH JOE!! I want some of that!

I picked up an interesting recipe magazine while I was in the states a few weeks ago called "Church Suppers." I'm trying a salad recipe that calls for potatoes, green beans, celery, corn, peppers, lots of good stuff. I'll be making that, along with some smoked sausages.

Well this is my mess I put on the table today. One of those cooking disasters you're glad nobody but family is going to see. But I'll show ya, just because I'm not a food snob. LOL

The two blobs at the bottom right are supposed to be nicely formed, oval salisbury steak patties. I got the meat mixture too loose and they fell apart as soon as I turned them over to brown the other side in the pan. Oh well, everyone knows my kitchen saying "you will eat it the way it comes out." And we did. The sides were smashed baby red potatoes and french cut green beans.

Nan that looks awesome to me!! The taters, the gravy, the beans and meat OH MY I WANT IT!!

When I make salisbury steak I just make oval hamburgers season them well and brown nicely on both sides. Remove from pan. Add butter to pan fond and saute mushrooms and onions make pan gravy thicken then add burgers back to pan and simmer in gravy for about a 1/2 hour. I never add anything to the meat. I guess I have been making them wrong all these years but I like them so if it ain't broke .... LOL

What do you put in the burger mix?

It's not exactly the same as meatloaf mix, but I do put in to 1 lb. of hamburger some dry Hidden Valley Ranch mix powder and some diced onions. Then I add a little bit of sour cream to the meat. I do that to my meatloaf mix, too. (the sour cream, not the HVR powder) I like the taste and it moistens everything.
But I added too much because there was this littttttttle dib left over and I wanted to use it up. Mistake!
Since there's no egg or no bread crumbs in the patties, they just fell apart. It was one ugly mess.

HVR mix powder really makes hamburgers taste good!

Oh thanks everyone, I didn't scroll up far enough to see y'alls responses. It didn't look too purty but it did taste good. Gravy covers a lot of sins. :)

Next time add the "little dib" of sour cream to the taters. YUMMY

How did you like the new potato salad recipe Karen? It really does sound good and the smoked sausages will be a good accompaniment.

Nancy, I'll be right over to pick up any leftovers. That meal is comfort food at its finest.

I had another day off, so DW was the beneficiary of my afternoon labor of love for dinner. I made fresh fettuccine topped with homemade Alfredo sauce, pan seared chicken breast and broccoli. No room for dessert of a raspberry jello mold with mandarin oranges. We'll use it this weekend when company comes over.

Oh Lord! I still have no idea. DH was going to go to the store and I told him to take a look in the clearance bin. Just hope he comes home with something nice and easy.

OH JOE! Does DW know just how Blessed she is?
It is I who is blessed. She cooked for all of us for more than 35 years, I'm just trying to make her life easier as long as I can. I can never repay her for all she's done for me and the 3 kids.

Hey Joe wasn't I supposed to move in? So wheres my dinner? LOL YUMMY!!

Well he didn't. He said that the clearance bin was really picked over which I can certainly believe at this hour. I think I'll follow JoeV's lead. I know I have noodles and chicken in the freezer.

By the Joe did you know that the Afredo's in Rome is a butter sauce not a cream and butter sauce? European butter is a lot creamer than ours. He added a lot freshly grated parmesan and I think a touch of thyme.

Would you believe we haven't eaten yet? Too warm. In summer months, we usually eat between 8 and 9...Jerry's out walking the dogs, so we'll eat when he returns. I'll let you know. It passed my taste tests...

I was thinking about it but I put the usual butter and buttermilk in those. I do love s.cream in potatoes though.

Thank you Keltin. Nope, no leftovers. As we like to say when we eat everything and there is no leftovers - it's going to be a clear day tomorrow!

Nancy.... My Mom used to say.. "It all gets mixed up in your stomach anyway!"...

I've had plenty of "Misfit Meals" happen.
Just the other day...I was proud to make DW a loaf of Home Made Bread...and the botton center stuck to the darn pan....Grrrrrrr!!!

I had a hunk of bread as a taste test...and it was Great!

I'm sure your Salisbury Steak was great tasting.

"Geepers"... Maybe I should start a thread ( "Place for the Misfit Meals" )

Kinda like ( I don't remember the name of the story, but DD loved it )..Land of the "Misfit Toy's".
It was on the TV as a Cartoon Production.
