Cleaning the Grill

I have a CharGriller with cast iron grates. It is the oil drum style and is in desperate need of cleaning. What is the best way to clean this thing?

I use oven cleaner. Warm it up and spray it down. Brush it and hose it down.

To clean the inside just gather some kindling and make a fire in it. For the exteriors of my grills I use Greased Lightning and an assortment of brushes.

I use hot water and soap. still not easy and I hate cleaning it. But its just something that has to be done. I have no easy solution. CF
