That's what my mother and aunt called these delicious appetizers. I haven't made them since Mom and Mick were diagnosed with dementia (at the same time), about 18 years ago now. I made them last night as part of a New Year's Eve appetizer platter. Always a big hit!

Cheese 'n Sh*ts
2 cups or so of grated cheeses, whatever you have, a blend is great
2 slices of raw bacon, minced
1/4 red or white onion, minced
mayo just enough to bind
Dry mustard to taste
Mix it all together.
Party bread slices (I had seeded rye and pumpernickle)
Paprika
Cut party bread slices (or whatever kind of sturdy bread you have) into 2-bite pieces. Lay them on a cookie sheet and broil the bread until the tops of the bread are lightly toasted (watch these closely!) Turn over each piece of bread and spread the non-toasted sides with the cheese mixture.
Sprinkle with paprika and broil.
