and, he said he couldn't identify the assassin because he ducked when he heard the shot. however he did wildly grab at the assassin, causing the assassin to fall on the stage and break his leg.

lemme say this about that....
anyone riding around in a heliochopper will - to the last day the marbles are still all there - never ever have any / slightest confusion about whether it was the guy ahead or behind, or the one one is riding is, was struck by an rpg.
Hilary was likely told she had to duck because.... Brian Williams just plain old invented the whole lie to make himself a bigger anchor.
all the 'oh, it's just a war story' needs to think about how this relates to real life.
you work hard, you succeed, you finally land the job of CFO at a company.
and then you crow to the CEO/Board of Directors about all the stuff you did/experienced which saved the company many many dollars.
and then the truth emerges you really didn't do any of that - it's just a figment of your active imagination/pride puffing/fictional/imaginary accounting.
and you want to keep your job?
he may come back and make the National Enquirer crowd happy.
but his return will be an epic fail for the other part of the population.
