Another thing about this little bar is that people are always bring in food. If there is no food brought in there is always something to munch on sitting on the bars. About a week ago this guy brought in what he called a boiled dinner and it was some kind of GOOD! So good in fact that I just had to cook something that I thought was like it. Yesterday I gave it a try and came up with this recipe. My wife said it was better that what we had at the bar, but I think she says that about most of the things that I cook just to keep me doing about 95% of the cooking in our household.

BOILED DINNER
6 Ounces Sausage, Smoked, cut into small pieces (see notes)
6 Ounces Ham, cooked and cut into small pieces
1 Potato, medium to large, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 Cup Onion, thinly sliced and cut into strips
1 Head Cabbage, medium to large, sliced into strips and the hard core removed
1 Tablespoon Bacon Grease
2 Cups Water
Salt and fresh ground Black Pepper, to taste
Place Smoked Sausage in a small skillet and brown slightly to
remove most of the grease in the Sausage. Drain on a paper towel and set aside.
Prepare Ham, Potato, Onion and Cabbage and set aside.
Place Bacon Grease and Water in a large pot or Dutch oven and bring to a boil over medium high heat. Once the Water is boiling add 1/3 of the Cabbage topped by a third of the Onions. Add a little of the Salt and Black Pepper. Repeat this process two more times.
Add the browned Sausage, cooked Ham and Potatoes. Give the cabbage a good stirring in order to mix well. Cover and cook for 5 to 10 minutes or until the Cabbage and Potatoes are done to your liking.
Notes: Use a good quality smoked breakfast Sausage. Other types of Sausages may be
Used such as Polish Sausage or a Polish Kielbasa or others may be used.
