Bartering for beef

I'm pretty excited... I'll be bartering violin lessons for a 1/4 beef, from the rancher! woo hoo! Natural, grass-fed beef from a ranch 2 hours east of us. We've never been able to purchase meat in bulk before, budget reasons, so I'm looking forward to it.

I don't know, 1/4 of a beef is about $500. will find out tonight as to pounds/cuts.

after some research, it's about 175 lbs. and it's black angus, free-range, grass fed, no additional hormones, etc...

Ours here runs about 2.25/lb. I don't think we've ever bartered any.

How does one buy beef like that? I would do it, but I'm not sure if I have the storage for it.

One can go online and find beef producers in your state. Ours has a website, then can contact the ranchers directly. We have a deep freezer, 0 degrees, and it's been mostly filled with gallon jugs of water to fill up the space. We had a few items in it. Looking forward to putting more meat in it! I had this connection through a friend who taught lessons to their daughter and had this arrangement.
