1 liter milk ( = 4,2 cups)
2dL porridge rice ( = 0.84 cups)
1 tsp salt
butter

Grease a baking dish (approx. 2 liters) and measure the porridge ingredients directly into the dish.
Cook the baked rice porridge in the oven at 175°C for about 1.5 hours.
Stir the porridge a few times during cooking. Cover if necessary.
Serve with cold milk, fresh berries and/or jam.

Sorry there is mistake in the recipe. Should be 2 dL porridge rice ( = 0,84 cups), not 1 dL.

Is porridge rice like a medium grained rice?

You need rice that release a lot of starch, creating the thick and creamy texture for this kind of porridge. You can use the short-grain or medium-grain white rice.

Good options in the USA might be the sushi rice or Arborio rice. Some grocery stores also may sell short-grain rice labeled specifically as "pudding rice".
