B & R Meat Processing, Inc. Recalls Products Due to Nitrite Levels in Excess of Regul
WASHINGTON, April 15, 2015 – B & R Meat Processing, Inc. is recalling approximately 569 pounds of pork products due to nitrite levels in excess of regulatory limit, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The product contains levels of Nitrites that exceed regulatory levels.

The problem was discovered when an FSIS inspector was conducting a Food Safety Assessment and observed documented levels of nitrites in excess of regulatory limits were being used in the curing process for the identified pork products.
FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify theircustomers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.

- 1-2 lb cryovac packages of cured ham with production dates of 7/1/14 to 7/25/14
- 1-15 lb cryovac packages of cured bacon with production dates of 7/1/14 to 10/7/14
- 1 lb cryovac packages of cured jowls with production dates of 7/1/14 to 7/25/14
