Are these cranberry sauce recipes "equal"?

I used to make the kind of cranberry sauce that called for a bag of fresh cranberries, 2 apples, 2 oranges, and 2 cups of sugar.

We're trying to cut down our sugar consumption, so instead I made:

bag of fresh cranberries
2/3 cup brown sugar
pkage of pomegranate seeds (6 oz)


So - what do you think? Are 4 fruits "equal" to a bag of cranberries?
