An Atlanta Landmark

Mama, I just stumbled onto an exchange between you and me some time back in which we both spoke about the wonderful restaurant, Johnnie Reb's Dixieland. One thing I didn't ask you at the time was if the two super prints that hung in the foyer are still there? One was of a rather dejected-looking little Union Soldier standing with his head bent and the line under the picture was saying sadly, "Please Forget"

The other picture was of a very angry-looking little Confederate Soldier looking all blustery saying, "Forget, Hell!"

I always just loved those two pictures - they sold them in the restaurant lobby but I never did buy them while I was there. If they still have copies and you ever have the occasion to go there I'd give anything to send you the money to get a copy of each of them for me. They are just priceless and I'd love to add them to my civil war memorabilia collection. :)

Come to think of it, it would probably be easier if you might be able to get me the address of the restaurant and I could write them, asking if they still sold those two prints and if I could buy copies from them. That plan makes a bit more sense, doesn't it?

I sure didn't mean to post this nearly identical post twice! I tried (unsuccessfully, it seems) to get rid of the first one so I think I now need some instruction on how to delete a message I don't want in here. When I went to submit the first edition it went flying off into what I thought was cyberspace and that's why I wrote the second one.

You can delete a post within an hour of posting. After that it takes a moderator.

Within the hour, edit your post, then "Go Advanced". You should have an option in there to delete.

Deleting the first post in a thread deletes the thread.

Easiest option is to just report the thread and ask to have it deleted as a dup. We are always glad to help.

BTW - If you note spelling problems, grammar problems or some other sort of a problem and it is too late to edit, just report the post.

Have a good evening.

Thanks so much, Andy! My mother-in-law always told me that neither she nor I could spell our way out of a wet paper bag! How right she was!
Usually, I find the mistakes quickly enough to go back and make the corrections but not always. I'll copy your instructions for both Ian and myself so that we won't foul up quite so much.

Honestly Fallon, I haven't been in years. It was on Roosevelt Hwy but so I couldn't tell you if they're still there.

Edit: I just asked DH and he said he thinks they closed. I couldn't find an address in the phone book or online so he may be right. Next time we're over in that area, I'll check it out.

Thanks so much, Mama. It wouldn't surprise me too much if the restaurant is now gone...this happens frequently to me, that I'll like something a lot but don't go near it for whatever reason, for ages and when I finally get curious and go checking it out, it's closed, gone, used up or whatever the case may be. Please don't go to any trouble about it...if it isn't in a phone book or online, I'm sure it's long gone after all these years. Another time I'll get in gear much more quickly and act on things like this so I don't miss out. Again, thanks for your trouble.

Fallon :thankyou:
