Great white sharks are afraid of something, too.
Orcas are fearsome, highly intelligent predators who hunt in packs. Commonly known as killer whales, they are actually oceanic dolphins. These fearsome hunters have been observed to attack great white sharks and eat their livers. In April 2019, marine ecologists were studying great whites off the coast of San Francisco, when a pod of orcas entered the waters. All seventeen sharks fled. Once sharks vacate such an area, they will not return for a long time, which means good news for sharks' prey (unless they also serve as orcas' prey).
