I love ebay and sometimes find myself obsessed with it!!
But I must say I have found some AWESOME deals on it!

I just won a bid for a brand new baby's sleeper/outfit for.......01 cents!! and only 1.50 for shipping!! am I a good bargain shopper or what!!??:tiphat:

Anyone else get somecrazy deals from there?

Yep, I'm into it. I have 378 feedbacks, 100% positive. I buy and sell but lately it's mostly buying. Find me - buzz777international

I used to like to sell on ebay. Now they charge to list ads and their interface for posting an ad is over complicated. I've bought plenty of things on ebay but I don't go out there just browsing around. I used to use it a whole lot more.

I do a lot of shopping on there, too. I got my Wii there plus tons of accessories and some games. Also have gotten computers on there as well.

I've sold many of my daughters outgrown things on there in the past and my husband sold a boat on it...well almost, the buyer ender up being a fraud so we ended up just selling it on craigslist. But I think the sellers fees are only worth it for small priced items....

I bought a camcorder on there for about 20 something and now 3 yrs later we still use it often! That was a great deal!

I disagree. I sold a BMW M3 and a turbo Miata and was perfectly happy with both deals. In all the transactions in which I've been involved there were only two bad ones, and eBay/PayPal worked it out.

I've gotten some hard to find old books off there, and a few Doris Day items to add to my collection.
I worship her lol

you didnt find the fees high for selling high priced items on there? May I ask what your sellers fees were for selling cars on there?

I don't recall, Dee. It's been a few years. Craig's List is great, and I use it, but when you need to reach a wider market eBay is a winner.

I have not sold a car with Ebay but as I understand it they do have a set fee now of $150 for motorized vehicles. A friend sold a wrecked car for 300 and found out they wanted $150  They cut him some slack but I don't recall how much of a break he got.

I've never sold anything on ebay but did buy 90% of my mustang parts on ebay. I saved between $5,000 to $6,000 dollars in parts. Even my seats, tail lights, most of the engine parts, and drive train all came from ebay. I have about $15,000 in the engine, suspension and drive train to date.

I've been a seller there since 1998, back when it was a word only whispered between sellers. Before they went public, it was truly an "If You List It, It Will Sell... for stupidly large amounts of money" place...if you were listing "collectibles".

Now, it's a lot more work to make a living, but I'm still plugging away at it.

I am an ebay addict. My feedback is 897 (100% pos) and I've never sold anything there. I buy a lot of my kids' clothes there. One son wears a 28x34 pant and I can always find his size when he needs pants. Another son wears size 15 shoes and I can find shoes there easily. Plus I got a lot of things there when I re-did my kitchen - including my high capacity range hood. I buy a lot of fabric on ebay, too.

I've sold a handful of things, and bought a handful of things, all like 10 years ago. I will occasionally use it for research, to figure out how much something would move for.

For what I'm really interested in, namely cookbooks, I prefer to use abebooks.com. It's a brokerage house, listing what's available from used/rare/out-of-print book dealers around the world for buyers like me. I have many of the things I'm interested in saved as a "want", and when a book gets listed that meets my search criteria (either author, title, ISBN, or subject) I get an email letting me know.

Would you believe that last week I saw a couple of cookbooks pop up for sale that were all about bacon?

What kind of things do you guys sell on there??

Can't beat ebay for kids clothes FM :) As long as you find sellers that don't try to make their profit off shipping :)

Ephemera....
Pretty much anything printed on paper.. old books, catalogs, documents,
photos, magazines, booklets, posters, manuals, etc etc etc
With occasional other collectibles I think are worthy.

That was the thing I had a hard time remembering to check when I first started buying off of ebay - the shipping.:bonk:

I had shipping problems as a seller at first...I wasn't charging ENOUGH shipping and ended up loosing money once I took it to the post office instead of making profit on the sale at all! :bonk::bonk: In essence I was paying money to get rid of my items! lol

Oh yeah.... if you are going to sell on ebay, a scale is an investment that will quickly pay for itself!!!

Anything and everything. I peddled about 50 Thiers-Issard Sabatier kitchen knives the year before last.

As to shipping I use USPS Priority Mail normally. It's easy to set up an account and they deliver the boxes and other materials free to your house. I use a kitchen food scale for determining weight. Another ploy I use is two day FedEx and the buyers lust to get product in hand sometimes gives me a higher selling price than I might otherwise get. My costs are roughly the same as USPS because I get an industry discount with FedEx.

Ebay Junkie here!

I also try to counter those bidding against me who might bid at the last minute by putting making sure my maximum bid is some way above the current bid. I console myself that at least if I lose it, the buyer has got more for his/her item.

Yes I have at times......but man some people are EXPERTS at that!!! Drives me NUTS sometimes!!! Thats how I was shocked that I won that bid yesterday for 1 cent....I thought for sure someone was going to bid at the last second so I padded my bid just in case. NO One bid against me at all so I still got it at 1 cent! (bet the seller was pissed ;) )
