This is the original recipe for the cabbage soup diet from the mid 1990's. There was more to the diet than just eating soup, but you could eat the soup in unlimited amounts. It tastes good whether you want to lose weight or not.

Eating this soup for a few days is a great way to kick-start a diet.

Cabbage Soup Diet

1 Head cabbage, chopped
6 Onions, sliced or chopped
2 Green peppers, sliced or chopped
1 Bunch celery, chopped
1 Bunch shallots or 1 bunch green onions, sliced
2 Chicken bouillon cubes
1 Envelope onion soup mix
48 ounces V8 vegetable juice
2 28 Oz. cans chopped tomatoes
juice of 1 lemon
6 chopped garlic cloves
Pepper to taste

Place all in large pot and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 1 hour.
