You won't find a more authentic Italian Restaurant than La Scarola. 721 W Grand. 312-243-1740.

Very cool, been trying to find one to drag DW out to. She is not a big fan of Italian, but I am convinced it is because she hasn't tried authentic.

Call first - they do about 700 plates a night. It is not a large place either. They have valet parking - use it. Ask to see the kitchen - you won;t believe what they do with the space they have. Expect about 20 bucks a plate.

While you are in the area, drive a little west on Grand and pick up some very good close-out wines at Armanettis on Grand and Western. Danny has them at the end of the front aisle.

LOL I just told DW about this and she said she went by it everyday on the way to work and knows exactly where it is!!
She also said Mancow used to take his little Italian wife there.

Did you ever go check it out? I had Pollo Saltimbocca (sp?) the other day with a glass of La Crema Pinot Noir. Not on the regular menu. But I bet they would make it for you if you asked.
