Cheesy Root Veg Casserole

2 c diced turnips
1 1/4 c diced carrots
2 c diced parsnips
1/2 c chopped onion
3 T butter
1 T flour
1 c hot milk
1/4 t nutmeg
1/2 c grated cheddar
bread crumbs for topping

Set oven to 400 and grease a large casserole.
Cook vegs in boiling, salted water til tender.
Drain and place in casserole dish.
Saute onion in melted butter til soft. Add flour and cook, stirring for 3-4 minutes.
Add milk, and cook and stir til thickened.
Stir in nutmeg and cheese, stirring til cheese melts.
Pour over vegetables, top with bread crumbs and bake for about 10 minutes.
