Caramel Corn

2 c sugar
1 c butter
1/2 c white corn syrup
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
7 qts popped corn
1 c peanuts

Mix sugar, margarine and syrup together. Bring to boil and hold 5 minutes. stir in baking soda and vanilla. Pour over popped corn and peanuts. Mix gently and well. Spread on cookie tins or other large shallow pan. Bake 1 hour in 250F oven. Stir occasionally. Store when cool in tightly covered tins.
