Default Bacon Roly Poly/ Clanger

One of these days I'm going to attempt a bacon roly poly, otherwise known as - a clanger.

My late hubby's Father was an expert at making the delicious wonders. Bacon, mushrooms and onions in a rolled suet pastry - like a jelly roll really.

Looks good Sass! Not sure where to get beef suet. Do you think I can make these with lard?

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Never explain yourself. Your friends don't need it and your enemies won't believe it anyway.

I think lard and suet are fairly similar.
That's what I'll use.

I have a local meat market that sells suet. The commissary quit selling it due to "sanitary concerns".

well..... suet is an upscale taste/texture version of "lard"
having a local butcher,,,, I can say there is a difference.

regrets, in the "mass market" finding suet may be a real problem.

regrets(squared) . . . on a unpleasantly imposed low fat diet . . . no get to indulge in such treats.....comma, anymore. but I would in a heartbeat,,,, it's maintaining a heartbeat that is the problem....

A shortcrust pastry would also work.
Because... butter.

125g/4oz plain flour
pinch of salt
55g/2oz butter, cubed
30-45ml/2-3 tbsp cold water
