This diner is on Route 1 in Wells, Maine, and has been all OVER the local restaurant review TV shows for years.
And it deserves it's great reputation!
I spent this past weekend with some friends on the beach in Ogunquit, and I finally got to try the wonderful Maine diner. It's bigger than most diners, but has your typical large selection of comfort foods. Portions are large, prices are a little higher here than they would be in less famous diners. Very comfortable, and excellent service.
I had a freshly made crabcake sandwich which had a crispy, crunchy coating around a delicious, moist interior. My friend had a Reuben which she loved, and we split an order of "homemade" baked beans - I was skeptical about the homemade part, since they were good, but nowhere near as thick and good as mine.
I was dying to go back to try the biscuits and sausage gravy, but that will have to wait till another time.
I highly recommend the Maine Diner!
