What happened to creme filled donuts?

Back in the "Old Days" 60's my Aunt and Uncle own a Winchells Doughnut shop!They made the best Cream filled Maple and Chocolate Bars they were called Long Johns back then! The Cream was very light but thick they were the best!

Ah I miss the old days of mom and pop doughnut shops over all these chains. We are lucky with all the ethnic places that sell things similar to doughnuts, but have recently discovered one right down the road that makes good doughnuts, and big, but no cream filled long johns :(

I was raised calling them E-clairsor as my parent pronounced it egg-clares. I still use that term myself but understand the other names they carry.
