True horror Stories ...Do you have one ?

About thirty years ago, the Warden and I moved into this house. We were vacating an apartment, and our niece was moving in, so we left almost all of the furniture, planning to furnish our new digs from scratch...

First couple of days were spent just as you would think.... cleaning, painting and shopping .... We were spending our nights on a huge pile of blankets in the downstairs bedroom, as the only stuff in the house were the appliances....
We weren't bothered at all by the fact that the previous owner had died on the living room floor.
First night, lights are out and we are on our way to slumber land when this noise comes from the other end of the house; it sounded like maybe a picture fell off the wall, except there was nothing hanging.... The Warden gave me the old elbow in the side and the words, "Go see what that was!"

I went, and found nothing.

After about 40 minutes or so, there it was again ! The Warden said, "That sounded like someone dropped a dish !" I was by this time getting a little spooked, but I made the rounds again, and again found nothing untoward.
I don't believe in ghosts, but by this time I must admit that the thought of the previous owner haunting the place was worming its way into my consciousness ....
We lay there, neither of us doing any sleeping, until, sure enough, there it was, the sound of something crashing.... to the floor ??

Well, to make a long story short, I should mention that we'd never had an Ice-Maker in our Fridge before ............

Good story, LT!Is it a joke, or true? I always jump when visiting friends who have an ice maker.

This subject is a particular interest of mine, and I'm hoping other members will share their eerie stories.

One of my friends and I have been going on ghost-hunting weekends twice a year for several years now. Our adventures have included Lizzie Borden's in Fall River, MA, the Mount Washington Hotel in NH and the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, MA. At every place, we have experienced what we consider out-of-the-ordinary phenomenon.

When we stayed at the Captain Grant's B&B in Prescott, CT, we entered the room we booked, Adelaide's Room (the most haunted in the inn) and immediately took turns using our bathroom, after a long drive.

I went first, and then came out into the room to take a look around. When Kathy was in the bathroom. powdering her nose, the thumb piece on the bathroom door latch jumped out and landed on the floor, several feet from the door. Neither of us had touched it before it jumped.

Later that night, a team of two paranormal investigators, their dog, and a TV producer checked into the inn to investigate the inn, and our room in particular. They included us in all of their investigation, explaining their equipment, and letting us observe. Their equipment, including a scary doll that lit up when motion was detected, and their dog, indicated that their was something unusual in our bathroom (the innkeepers said that the shower curtain kept crashing down in there).

The third photo is of the 2 paranormal team guys, their dog, and inn owner who is using dowsing rods to communicate with the spirits. Note the orb on the left side of dog's muzzle.

The second night we were there, Kathy heard loud banging, knocking, on the outer door to the balcony. No one was out there.

This one one of our favorite ghost-hunting adventures. And the fact that we won a few bucks at the nearby casino didn't hurt either. :)
