WASHINGTON, July 22, 2014 – A facility doing business as Sara Lee Foodservice in New London, Wis., is recalling approximately 82,440 pounds of smoked sausage due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The product was formulated with an ingredient containing hydrolyzed soy protein, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.

During a routine label review, the company discovered that one of the product flavoring ingredients contains hydrolyzed soy and that the soy is not declared on the product label.
FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to ensure that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.
