Homemade Ranch Beans...

4 thick slices bacon, cut into small pieces
3 garlic cloves, chopped
15 ounce can diced tomatoes (I use my home canned and cook down a bit.)
2 15 ounce cans pinto beans
1 or 2 canned jalapeños, optional
1 T. cumin - to taste
1 or 2 T chili powder - to taste
salt

In a large dutch oven or saucepan, cook bacon over medium heat, until crisp, or about 5 minutes. Drain off out of the grease, then sauce garlic for a minute, addd tomatoes and juice, and spices, then cook for 4 or 5 minutes. Add beans with their liquid and simmer on low for 15 or 20 minutes. Add seeded and chopped jalapeños at the end before serving, if desired. I usually gently cook the beans down if to much fluid, which usually occurs.

Bourbon and Maple Syrup Beans

Last night I made beans and weinies and was disappointed with the hot dogs. I used the Applewood uncured hotdogs and they tasted off, to me.

The beans were Bushs Bourbon and Maple Grillin Beans which I added Hempler bacon ends, onion, extra bacon grease, High West BouRye, and maple syrup. The next time will use a regular hot dog.
