For Iron Chef 29, the secret ingredient is……..

Thanksgiving 2009!

The idea here is to showcase your favorite go-to recipes that make it Thanksgiving for you. What is it that is special for every Thanksgiving dinner? What are your special sides, showcase meats, etc? There is no singular ingredient here. This is a no-holds bar special where we showcase our favorite Thanksgiving Holiday dishes. From drink and appetizer to full blown main course, come one, come all, let the dishes roll.

Once your dish is ready, it’s a good idea to make a new post with your recipe. Then, post a link and a picture of your recipe to this thread. Alternatively, if you like, post your recipe and pictures here. In the end, we will compile all the results into one thread for easy searching.

Now, let Battle Thanksgiving 09 begin!

Ours is a very traditional Thanksgiving feast, but one somewhat unusual item that is demanded by everyone, even now my daughter's in-laws, is this extraordinary Cranberry-Raspberry-Orange Relish, which beats that canned sh*t all to h*ll, and it's a snap to make in the food processor. Printable version attached.

CRANBERRY-RASPBERRY-ORANGE RELISH

12-ounce package fresh cranberries
1 large or 2 small tart green apples, such as Granny Smith, peeled and cored
¾ cup sugar
½ cup orange marmalade (Knotts or Smucker's preferred)
10-ounce package unsweetened frozen raspberries, thawed and drained
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (may need a little more)

Chop the cranberries in a food processor or by hand until finely chopped
(i.e., a little larger than a grain of rice). Remove the chopped cranberries
from the processor and set aside in a large bowl.

Chop the apples in the food processor or by hand until finely diced
(i.e., a little larger than the chopped cranberries).

Add the diced apples to the bowl with the chopped cranberries.

Add the remaining ingredients to the apples and cranberries and mix
well.

Taste mixture to see if it needs more lemon juice.

Refrigerate for at least 24 hours to allow the flavors to blend.

Relish may be refrigerated, tightly covered, for up to a month.

Do not freeze.

Got the turkey brined yesterday, the stuffing prepped, the lemon mold is chilling and the potatoes have been baked for the sweet potato pie.
The ingredients for the stuffing and the mold are pictured below. I posted the lemon mold recipe last year. The stuffing is pretty self explanatory. I once made stuffing that was not studded with sausage and mushrooms. I almost lost my family:bonk:

Here's my 7 loaves of bread drying and the 3lbs. of onions and celery sauted for my stuffing. Will add the poultry seasoning, s & p, and some turkey broth and it will be ready.

Thanks Cooksie! The sad part is it only comes down to one huge bowl. lol DH and DS have to have enough stuffing for three days. I also made my "green shit". I guess it's a take off on Watergate salad without the marshmallows.

Yeah, I've noticed on the leftover re-heats that it's always the stuffing/dressing, usually alongside pieces of turkey tucked inside rolls.

Cranberry, tangerine, pecan relish (uncooked)

Course grind 1 bag cranberries and 2 unpeeled tangerines in food processor. put in bowl, hand chop pecans and add to bowl. sweeten to taste with honey and /or sugar and mix well. make a day in advance so flavors can meld. add more honey if needed before serving.
