The Leningrad Cowboys

The Leningrad Cowboys, A Finnish rock band singing in English accompanied by the Alexandrov Red army Ensemble!

The band was an invention of the Finnish film director Aki Kaurismäki together with Sakke Järvenpää and Mato Valtonen, members of the Finnish comedy rock band Sleepy Sleepers. The three of them conceived the band in a bar in 1986 as a joke on the waning power of the Soviet Union.

Seriously they’re Great!

Even some of the Russians seem To be enjoying themselves.

I really like that version of Sweet Home Alabama.

I stumbled upon these guys years ago.... posted a few of their offerings here......... 'Sweet Home Alabama' was my favorite also Jimmy !. Can't find the video that was posted then, and it was a better one than this, with two Russian "Go_-Go" dancers in Russian Peasant garb, with beehive hairdo's, each weighing about 18 0...........

Someone sent me a link to Sweet Home Alabama years ago. Almost fell out of the chair!

They came up in a youtube search this morning. Didn’ remember your posts though. Of course I don’t remember lots of things

I think the hair is so they don’t need a ball cap to shade their eyes from the Sun

I still can remember the day when Leningrad Cowboys and the Alexandrov Red Army Ensemble performed together in Helsinki, Finland.

It was as day!
