Patsy Cline (born Virginia Patterson Hensley; September 8, 1932 – March 5, 1963) was an American singer. She is considered one of the most influential vocalists of the 20th century and was one of the first country music artists to successfully cross over into pop music. Cline had several major hits during her eight-year recording career, including two number-one hits on the Billboard Hot Country and Western Sides chart.

In March 1963, Cline appeared at a benefit show in Kansas City, Kansas. To return home, she boarded a plane along with country performers Cowboy Copas, Hawkshaw Hawkins and manager Randy Hughes. Upon hitting rough weather, the plane crashed outside of Camden, Tennessee, killing all those on board.

Walkin’ After Midnight and Crazy were #1 hits on the Country charts. Faded Love was a #9.

Another Lady with a beautiful voice.

I like them all. I didn’t discover her music until after she passed away. Probably one of the things that started moving me more towards the country side of the house than rock and roll.

I couldn't possibly pick one favorite.........

I was in Boot Camp when I heard.....It was all I could do not to cry in front of my Mates.....

Patsy was a fast-rising star in 1961, having scored her first hit,”Walkin’ After Midnight , in 1957 after two years of non-charting records. Her appearance on "Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts" helped get her noticed.

A long dry spell followed until 1961, when she recorded “I Fall to Pieces” .

She and her brother Sam were involved in a head-on car crash in Nashville in June 1961. Patsy was thrown through the windshield, causing severe facial injuries. Patsy insisted that the ambulance crew attend to the other driver first, but the woman died at the scene.

She spent a month in hospital, but was soon back on-stage at the Opry, performing on crutches (Broken Hip).

This is ONE of my favorites, to add to the obvious.....

I wish I had heard of her years before. I don’t remember if someone told me about her or I found her on the radio or tv.
