my doc rang me a minute ago, & says i may have celiac's after she ordered labwork yesterday. she says she hasn't seen a level in her time as a doc @ this tyype of level (its @ 23); it's higher than normal yet isn't as high as most w/ celiac & so she said 2 try & avoid wheat & see if that changes my tummy till i see my GI doc. i'll be so sad if i have celiac, tho i am an optimist; so thinking i went to culinary schooling, i have a pantry w/ a gazillion non-wheat pastas & can easily live on steak, soups, asain foods, get sushi, etcetera & find many gorgeous recipes here on NCT!

have members on here got this? i mean, i am & she is uncertain & 'at, checking, tho, for recipes/advice on my (@-least-till the diagnosis modified diet) is decided when i see GI person- TIA

If you google coeliac disease, there are a lot of websites that give advice & recipes etc. Over here, my friend gets food on precription - you can also get specialist websites that sell the right foods.

I don't deal with it personally, but I know several people who have it or who have gluten sensitivities but don't rank high enough to be considered celiac. I read several bloggers who struggle with it, too. It's certainly doable to avoid, but unfortunate if you actually have to.
