I saw that the other day and despite having been something of a techie for the last 40 years, I was shocked to learn that copy machines have hard drives. I really don't understand why that's necessary in these days of cheap memory, and I'm at a loss to explain why the images aren't automatically erased once printed. I'm never seen a copy machine that allows you to print something scanned in the past and stored on the hard drive, so why is the data retained? Anyway, it's a very obscure fact, apparently, and it makes me wonder how many trade, government, and military secrets have been unwittingly sold as junk to some 3rd-world country. Nasty stuff, indeed!
