Wow, never expected to see you post one of these, Keltin but if it makes you feel better, I will keep your wife and your family in my prayers. I know lots of breast cancer survivors, there is hope.
Best, Susan
Actually, Keltin didn't post this - Doc did. Read the second post in this thread where Doc explains it.

I was hoping Keltin would be back by now to post the update himself but since he isn't, I know we all want to hear how they are. His DW had surgery yesterday and the outcome was much better than expected. The surgeon is optimistic that he was able to remove all of the malignancy. She will be followed very, very closely for the next year but generally, the prognosis is cautious optimism!

Sorry guys I've been a bit preoccupied of late but good to hear the surgery went well and we will surely keep both Keltin and his wife in our thoughts.

Thank you, universe. Now breathe, Keltin. Have a good cry, both of you, and then let out a big breath of relief. I'm sending out my mojo that all the other crap you're dealing with will sort itself out as well. The big one is pretty much off the table now so I hope the other things feel less of a burden. My darling niece has a little tattoo that says it all- "...perspective"

She is truly blessed to have such a hopeful prognosis. I shall continue to keep her in my prayers. Health issues are some of the hardest ones to deal and cope with.

I'm very sorry to hear this.

My wife's aunt, whom we are very close to, has had breast cancer for about two years. She went through chemo and radiation, and it was rough, but her recent mammogram showed that she is still clear of any tumors. With today's medicine, breast cancer is definitely beatable.

Hello everyone!!

I never expected a thread dedicated to this, but I greatly appreciate it Doc. Thank you for this. I also greatly appreciate all the concern and love that is shown here and in the emails I’ve been getting. You guys are great. Truly, you couldn’t ask for a better family than what we have here. Much love to all of you!

I wish I had news that was definitive and put an end to this. But I don’t. The surgery went well last week, and she stayed over night in the hospital. The Tumor was removed, but when I went to pick her up and bring her home, the Doctor had a talk with me and said the cancer could be invasive meaning it has spread to surrounding tissue (basically broke free of the small tumor area they had removed).

We were waiting on the Pathology Report this past Wednesday to see exactly what was going on. They called us Wednesday, not with the results, but with a referral to a Cancer Specialist. I’m not exactly sure what that means, but I’m not going to speculate at this point. We go see the new specialist next Tuesday.

This is him.

Impressive credentials to say the least; so that is a big plus. I’m thinking perhaps we are getting referred to him because the surgeon that did the Lumpectomy was a “general” surgeon but Dr. Richardson is a Cancer Specialist. I like that idea, and hopefully that’s all this means. We’ll find at next Tuesday (7/14/09) at 3:15 PM.

So, there we are. Hanging in there and ready to beat this. Lisa (my DW) is doing better emotionally now, and she’s starting to get a bit pissed off about this and is ready to fight it, and fight it hard. That’s so good to see!

Lisa wanted me to tell each and everyone of you thank you so much for your support. It’s greatly appreciated and really helped knowing you were out there and that you cared. Thank you!

Lisa also made sure I kept cooking and taking pics, so I should have some new stuff to upload later tonight or this weekend once I download everything from the camera.

Ok. That’s all I have for now, but I will let you know what we find out as this progresses.

Now, it seems I have much to catch up on around here.

Thanks for everything guys; you’re the absolute best!

Just seen this thread. Very sorry to hear about Lisa, Keltin. At least they have very good success rates with this. Over here being sent to an oncologist and their surgical colleagues is standard practice. I wish her a speedy recovery and good health. My thoughts are with you both.
