1 1/4 c rolled oats
3 c unsifted all-purpose flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp vanilla sugar or regular sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp allspice
2/3 c unsalted butter
1 Golden Delicious apple, chopped
1 2/3 c buttermilk

Preheat oven to 425F and grease a baking sheet. Combine dry ingredients in the bowl of a food processor. Cut butter into dry ingredients, using pulses, until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. transfer mixture to a mixing bowl and add apple and buttermilk. Stir until just bound together (mixture will be gooey) Turn misture onto a heavily floured board and, with floured hands, knead it 6 or 7 times to form a soft dough. Divide dough into halves and shape each half into 7" rounds. Cut each round into 4 wedges and place wedges on baking sheet. Bake 12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve Immediately.
