TRUTH !!
This famous match took place in December of 1956, just a month after Soviet
tanks had rolled into Budapest to suppress an uprising in Hungary, and
feelings were running high on both sides. Hungary won the match 4-0, when
the referee declared the match over with a minute remaining after a Soviet
player had brutally injured a Hungarian player and the crowd erupted in
anger. The Hungarian team went on to defeat Yugoslavia 2-1 in the final game
to win the gold medal. After the Olympics, about half of the Hungarian team
sought asylum rather than return to Hungary.
