ok who has one... did you build it yourself... how? Got pics?

Why do I ask... well because I need another project like a hole in the head...:hammer:

but I've got a big pile of old bricks that used to be part of my house and I will soon be re- fencing in the back yard with a nice big high stockade fence so I will have some peace from the nosy crackheads behind me...

Trying to decide if I could build a wee little smoker back there... so if you've got em show em

Sorry Pancho, I bought mine, and right now its covered in snow!

But you know, I could use a "spring" project........hmmmm

...oh, wrong forum. How's this:

My Chargriller. Pic was taken about 2 years ago. I'm thinking about a vertical one next or building one from brick - smoker/oven to do pizza and other things outside.

Here's my other grills and cooking aparatus:

I got the grill on the left from Ebay for $200. All it needed was new knobs and burners. A total of $100. The grill on the right is actually a roaster. There's a 1" spit that can handle a whole pig or 3 turkeys, etc. The burners move up and down electronically to adjust temp for long cooks. It can also be used as a grill. That one was given to me.

Here's a little $20 portable charchoal grill. This thing puts out THE best flavor out of them all. Just the right size for a dinner for 2 and heats up in a second. I use this one the most, actually wore it out in one season. Also came to the races with me.

I made this at my brothers house for July 4th with some bricks he had laying around. Made a fire with some wood and let it burn down to coals. All that and I was ripped by 2pm. lol

My fire pit converted to cooker. The rack is a camping grill you stick in the ground. I just need to trim the legs 2-3 inches for better heat.

Rather than a smoker...why not make a fireplace?? My dad had one in our backyard when I was a kid....remember the kind Lucy Ricardo was going to build till she lost her wedding ring in the mud?

The fireplace looked like an oven, same height on both sides and the front, but the back was much higher. Instead of opening a door like you'd open an oven, the fireplace was hollow, with a heavy brick bottom. My father left gaps in the sides as well...these vents helped the air circulate. He built ledges along the inside walls to lay grills on, as well. He burned wood in the fireplace. All in all, there was a 3'x3' cooking surface.

With all my heart, I'd love to have an outdoor fireplace like the one my dad built. I have one now....but it's reminicient of a witch's cauldron. I cook on top of it...but that brick fireplace was a work of art.

And...my dad stole every brick he used to build that fireplace, too. He's an italian with larceny in his heart:yum:

That's kind of what I want to build VB. A fireplace/smoker/brick oven.

YES YES YES

Love your equipment Jeeks... I dont have room for a while bunch of stuff so I need to multitask..

My thought is I could line this up with the new glass door that's going in the kitchen so it could be seen from the dining room (which is basically going to be more kitchen) and the kitchen and help make the "backyard" a but more like an outdoor living room... and more useable in the cooler weather.

It needs to both look good and cook good

I like this one posted by Joec this guy did a nice job

Its a little big though

also totally illegal in the city but they are pretty lax around here... we got other kinds of smokers to worry about around here

I like VB's Dad's fireplace... maybe the smoker is too much... I have some time to think about it.

Be sure to read what he would do different section and perhaps make a single side without the smoker. It would make a great pizza oven also.

Anyone know where any brick buildings are being demolished???:unsure:I'm just another italian with larceny in my heart!

They are easier to get from new construction sites rather than demolition sites, also in better shape. I'm Italian too don't you know.
