Re: Peep's Green Olive Sauce

Okay, so it only took me 7 years, but I finally made this tonight, a Lenten Friday night.

Made as written - just added a pinch of sugar to the sauce. Oh, I had intended to add the anchovy paste...

Re: SCORE on corned beef!

Not bad. $3.98/lb. is still a lot better than the $5-$6/lb that corned beef is usually priced around here from April to February.

I keep eyeballing Sass' Pigs in Blankets.

Might have to do some this weekend. With baked beans.

Re: SCORE on corned beef!

Hmmm, thanks, Sass!

I don't think I changed my camera settings. Must be something in my photo software.

Well, that's annoying!

SCORE on corned beef!

I went to a different supermarket today to see if I could finally find the elusive yeast. Nope.

But I quickly scanned the meat section and saw that they slashed the price of corned beef (as I had...

Re: Smoked Salmon and Avocado Toast

I usually have scrambled eggbeaters and a slice of toast every weekday, but had an avocado that was perfectly ripe today.

So, I had my first simple avocado toast this morning. Sprinkle of Maldon...

Re: What have you eaten Sunday, 3/29/2020 to Saturday, 4/4/2020?

Monday night I had baked chicken wings with an artichoke and a new dipping sauce recipe I wanted to try (mayo, soy sauce, lemon juice, chives). It was good, but melted butter with garlic and lemon...

Jimmy, I used to love bologna sandwiches, but haven't had one in way over 10 years, since I can't find any that tastes as good as the stuff I grew up on.

What brand do you buy?

Re: No Knead Bread; Aka, NYT Bread

Tried my hand again at this recipe, since the first attempt was so successful.

Dough was REALLY wet, so I added a little more as I was shaping it before the second rising.

It didn't puff up as...

Re: Pita, 2 ways

Wow, thank you, Karen!

Those don't look too terrible! I'd like to try, whenever I can find yeast again.

Can I use regular, AP flour instead of bread flour? What's the difference?

Med, how of a PITA is it to make pita?

I watched a Cook's Country episode the other day when they were making it, and it looked like a lot of work. Is it?

Re: Tortilla pizza

Made these tortizzas the other night - first time in a long time.

I had plum tomatoes, but the cherry tomatoes work better to keep the tortilla crisp.

Great idea, Chowder! Nuke it a bit and hit it with a squirt of ketchup and I'm all over that!
