mineral oil is the "standard" treatment for wooden implements.
food / laxative grade easily found in grocery stores or pharmacies.

a step up is the mixture of beeswax and mineral oil. I like it...

it's a newer model - no icing, etc noted.

an older model once did ice things in certain spots.... but this one seems to have more even temp control.

that'll work if the fridge is in the 40'F range. . .
if it's in the 36'F range, it takes a week.
