View Full Version : Creamy Mushrooms

2 c sliced mushrooms
1/2 c boiling water
2 T butter
1 T flour
1 c cream
1/4 t Worcestershire sauce
1 t salt
few drops hot sauce

Toss mushrooms in boiling water and simmer for 5 minutes, then drain.
Melt butter in skillet and blend in flour.
Slowly stir in cream,worcestershire sauce, salt and hot sauce.
Add mushrooms and heat thoroughly.

Serve on buttered toast triangles.

This would also be good on a baked potato! Yummy!!

It sounds like a Gravy? Is it Sass? I picture it over Pasta!

I wonder how a bit of horseradish would be in this. If you saute the mushrooms until browned, make your white sauce, then a bit of horseradish. Maybe with toast points? Or leave the mushrooms whole (I know it would just take longer to cook) could you then serve as an appetizer with toothpicks? Grilled crostini would work too, I think.

You guys can have this tossed in pasta, tossed in a baked potato - I just want it in my tummy!

I'd think it would be wonderful over beef as well, wouldn't it? lol
