This isn't new but I don't see it here anywhere and I was reminded of it tonight because I used my broiling pan. Here's how to keep cleanup a breeze.
1. Add just enough water to the lower pan to cover the bottom. It prevents smoking and catches all the crap that would have been baked onto the pan.
2. Use Pam or the like on the upper pan.
3. Don't forget the water or you're gonna spill it all over the place when you remove the pan.

I also like to line the top with tin foil and cut the vents out after I have sprayed cooking oil. However, I probably put a bit more water in than you do.

OMG, Buzz! I have never heard of this. It probably keeps the stove from catching fire, too! How come they don't put this stuff in cookbooks???

I should have said "quantity depending on broiling time".

Good tip Buzz.
If I ever get a broiler that I use, I'll remember that water trick.

Most cooking appliance manuals suggest that you do that.
The manual that came with the Rival BBQ Pit Crockpot Slow Cooker suggests that also. And it DOES help keep smoke and fire at bay.
