View Full Version : Great grate!
I just bought this cast iron grate for my 22" Weber kettle. I haven't used it yet as you can see.....I just dropped it in the kettle to see how it looks :D
I'll cook on it this week. :D

BTW, did you do that broken tile work surface that your Webber is set into? That is amazing looking. Could you post a pic of the whole set-up? I would love to see it.
where did you get it .. i must have one ...Several people over at the Virtual Weber forum have been ordering them as well.
Kinda pricey, I ordered from these guys:

I started a thread on this very table project a couple of weeks ago. The table is not 100% finished. I still need to build a simple lid holder at the end of the table and a corner shelf at the opposite corner of the table. When complete, I will post more photos. :))
Here's the table project thread:

Neat. Something new for the grill.
I had a gasser once with a CI grate. I don't think I ever did get it seasoned properly. And I could never get decent sear marks, but I never did like that grill either...
Give us a report after a few cookouts, Food.
very nice new toyThis is not a toy! You can end up with serious sear marks!

Thanks for the link, Food! Your setup is fantastic looking! The structure looks like it will be around 100 years from now - well done! You really should submit those pics to a DIY magazine or something. It looks like a very high-end custom piece!
Thank you FM. I tend to over-engineer whatever I build. Besides, the table was designed to hold a load of bricks on top so I used 4x and 6x timber for the main frame.

OK so how much was the grate!?!?!
OK so how much was the grate!?!?!
Hundred bucks, including shipping.
I'm pretty much done with the kettle table for now. All it needs is a lid holder on the left side. I still have a few ideas floating around in my head for that.
The fire-walled bricks are not secured or mortared. When I'm sure that's the layout I like I will secure them with landscape block adhesive which will keep them reasonably secure, but not permanent.
