Recipe.tv channel 676 on Verizon Fios. Looks like some real decent recipes, seems to be all about recipes and techniques not challenges and the other crap on Food Network. :thumb:

I know, off topic, but, how do you like the Fios? We don't have it here yet, but, suppose to in a few months.

Fios is pretty good, no problems loosing connection like Directv (fkn rip-offs). We have the phone, internet and tv combo.

I actually like DirecTv guys, had them now for almost 10 years sure beats cable on other satellite networks all to hell.

yeah, I've had Directv for about 11 years. I have no complaints with them either. They have always been good when there have been any troubles, but, I have verizon internet, wireless and landline now and would like to get all of it with them.
I just changed from verizon mobile phones to T Mobile. I had Verizon since they first started and didn't need a cell phone for about a year. I went to them at first and they wanted a $300 deposit because I had never hand a contract with them but had basically a pay as you go account. So much for Verizon I will never do business with them again along with AT&T.

yeah .. directv is great .. as long as its not cloudy, windy, rainy ....
you make sure you reset your boxes once a month ...
We have had heavy thunderstorms here all week and I've missed exactly 30 seconds of TV. Now I had Adelphia cable in sunny south Florida before Andrew. If a squirrel pissed on a flat rock within a mile of their towers then cable was down for two days. My last month and the cause of my switch was out of the whole month I had TV 9 days.

Verizon sucks. I've been cutting all my ties with them and only my business phone is with them now. No yellow pages, no cell phone anymore, the house phone was the first to go and most recently I went with cable for internet. I was having a connectivity problem with my DSL internet after they accidentally cut my phone line. I don't care if they offer ten food channels, I'll never get fios.
On the other hand..... I just switched from Dish Network, which I had for eight years, to Direct TV. I've had to reset my receiver almost daily. I just found out yesterday that the HD receiver they gave me can't autotune a channel. How stupid is that? I'm still waiting for their callback from escalating my call to bitch. Their remote absolutely sucks compared to Dish. No definition to the buttons (all the same height and basic shape) and the ones I use most are located at the very bottom of the remote. BUT.... I am no longer paying an additional 20 some bucks (regular price) a month for two channels that Dish has intertwined with with its Encore movie package, NatGeo and Science. And with the year promotion, I'm paying 54 now instead of 93.
I can't say I like hearing about the storm problem though. I rarely lost Dish's signal. Direct TV has a much better HD picture though.
Wait, what were we talking about again?

Interesting thread. That's actually what I design and work on......GPON for fiber optic delivery of triple play service. Verizon FIOS was one of the first to roll it out, but many others are coming up fast.

I hate going back on topic, but has anyone seen this channel? I don't have it and am curious. Back to off topic, I wish we could get fios. Its a few years away for this podunk state.

Never heard of this channel or Fios. We've had DishNetwork for 5 years and love it! Never any outages no matter how bad the weather, and we get some good Pacific storms!

I have FIOS and I, too, just recently noticed the new channel. I've only seen a few minutes of it, but it seemed somewhat ameteurish.
It reminded me of a show I used to catch once in a while (maybe on Travel Channel?) where they had a stationery camera filming restaurant chefs as they prepared a dish. In most cases the chef didn't speak English, and the sound was dubbed. There was little or no instruction, just a recipe.
Recipe.tv almost seemed to be using the old tapes from that show (the English ones). It could be worth watching, however,to see how it developes. Remember that Food Network started on a shoestring.
