This is my 'bummus' recipe. It is like hummus, but since the hummus gods have informed me that calling my recipe hummus is a sacrilage, I now present my BUMMUS recipe!

Good stuff, easy to make! Get your food processor out and toss in the following!

1 can of black beans - drained
1 roma tomato quartered
1 clove of garlic smashed
2 T tahini (I make my own - see recipe below)
2 med roasted hatch peppers
1 handful of cilantro - I just rip a bit off and toss it in.
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp chipotle powder (or smoked paprika will work)
1/2 T of cumin
salt to taste
juice of half a lime

Give her a whizzzz and then let set for several hours. Flavor is wonderful!

Tahini

1/2 cup of lightly toasted sesame seeds - not brown
couple pinches of salt
pinch of garlic powder

Put in food processor and drizzle olive oil till it is a flowable mixture, but not runny.

Enjoy!

If hummous means chick pea wouldn't it be confusing to call a black bean spread by the wrong name? Anyone searching for a chick pea spread would be confused to find a spread made out of a different bean.

Or should I call chocolate beet cake, carrot cake because they are both made out of vegetables?

Oooooh, sattie, this sounds scrumptious. I love black bean soup so I can't wait to make this. Thanks.

Thanks Sattie! I'm getting the tortilla press out now. A good dip deserves fresh made tortillas.
