Well Im ticked! At what you may ask? The pizzeria! :glare: A few weeks ago i paid $18.00 for a medium sized pizza with three toppings!
Lets see..... dough.... some average sauce.... average cheese and a FEW bits of toppings. i was not happy. :hammer:
So.... I decided to make a pizza (it was delicious by the way!) that cost me only $7.00 and I wanted to show you how easy it really IS for a low cost tasty pie! :w00t2:
I bought the store brand name for $5. It is a Self Rise crust.

I especially liked that, as you can see, it was vaccumed wrapped!
Along with the pizza I bought vegi's to toss on it. Sweet red pepper, a mexican pepper with low heat, a tiny HOT green pepper, a red onion and a brocoflower. Brocoflower is a hybrid of broccoli and caulifower and is full of good healthy stuff.

I cut the pieces as you see above. The brocoflower I chopped up finely and sprinkled. After laying things out in a pattern, I put freshly ground black pepper, a mix of italian herbs from McCormicks and in one area I put on (under the vegi's) pesto paste just to experiment. Do NOT add salt at this point! There is a ton of salt already in this thing. If you taste the final product and want some more salt, you can add it then.

Above, you can see it right before I popped it in the oven.
Now before i even started chopping up things, I set the oven to 500 degrees so its DAMN hot when it goes in. This is VERY important. If you dont the pizza not only takes longer, but the bread, cheese and toppings all cook at a different pace, making your pizza a moist soft mess. And to correct this you have to cook it longer and then it burns the bread and outer cheese. :yuk:

This is what it looks like when done. Outer edge is crisp but not burnt. The middle is not soggy. The cheese melts around the toppings.
The result was a pizza that was GREAT!!!
Its VERY easy! So next time, when you want a nice pie and you dont want to pay a lot, do it yourself. Put your own toppings on it ANNNNND its fun! :chef: Plus YOU get to make it the way YOU like.
i hope you enjoyed my first photo based recipe. :tiphat:
